Baldwin & Lyons is dedicated to being a responsible corporate citizen and we feel it’s important to give back to our local community. Among the groups we regularly support are Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent, Special Olympics Indiana and Habitat for Humanity. Here’s a highlight of how we’ve partnered with these groups so far this year:

Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent

The first of 10 themed rooms we are funding was dedicated on Friday, June 14. Baldwin & Lyons CEO, COO and President Joe DeVito joined 4-year-old patient Henry Wooten for the ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication of the super hero themed room. Action figures, memorabilia and comic books fill the brightly-colored room, which we hope will give extra fighting power to the children who stay there.

Special Olympics

More than 2,500 Special Olympics athletes from across the state gathered on ISU’s campus on Saturday, June 8, to compete in the Summer Games. Baldwin & Lyons’ volunteers helped run volleyball, bocce ball and track and field events. In August, we will compete in the 2013 FedEx Plane Pull Challenge, where a team of 20 employees will try to pull a 164,000-pound FedEx Boeing 747 a distance of 12 feet in the shortest amount of time.

Habitat for Humanity

For the second year in a row, we sponsored a Habitat for Humanity build. During three build days, our employees worked side by side with the homeowners to put up walls, caulk the exterior and paint siding. The homeowner was handed the keys to her new home in June. Watch our employees in action on the build site!
